Worship @ Trinity
At Trinity, we are committed to worship that helps us to love God
with all our hearts,
with all our souls,
with all our minds,
and with all our strength;
and to worship that forms and equips us
to love our neighbors
as we love ourselves.
Worship at Trinity reflects our strong Reformed roots:
We gather praising God, remembering our baptismal identity as children of God, and confessing our own human brokenness and need.
We listen to the written words of Scripture and the spoken words of preaching in order to hear a new and present Word from God for our lives.
We respond to the gift and the challenge of this Word by praying for the world and all who are in need, and by offering ourselves to do the work of Christ in the world.
We are sent out, challenged and blessed, to love God and neighbor, and to serve Christ
in our daily living through the power of his Spirit.
As Presbyterians, we are a church of Word and Sacrament.
We come together in worship both to hear God’s Word to us in Scripture and preaching, and
to practice doing that Word at the font and table of our Lord. Gathered around pulpit, font and table, we know ourselves as beloved children of God, who are seeking to live as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ in the world.
Each Sunday, water poured into the baptismal bowl reminds us who we are and how we
are called to live. Each Sunday, words spoken from the pulpit ground our living in the Bible and in the living Christ. Each Sunday, our prayers and gifts offered around the Lord’s table
help us understand ourselves as family, a people who belong to God and to each other in Jesus Christ.
Monthly, the sharing of bread and cup in the Lord’s Supper nourishes us in the
Christian life, and shapes us the practices of gratitude, generosity, sharing, and service.
At Trinity, all the baptized of any age or denomination, are invited to share in the church’s
sacramental meal.
Persons exploring God’s call to Christian fellowship, discipleship and service are
regularly invited to prepare for Baptism or baptismal renewal, and accompanied in their
preparation by a church member companion. see Exploring Membership
Trinity has a long tradition of music excellence. Instruments and voices, congregation and choirs all join together in praise, as the music serves the worship of the triune God. On any given Sunday morning, you may hear:
traditional hymns and psalms accompanied on the organ
contemporary spiritual songs, led by the piano
additional accompaniment from flute, guitar, drum, timpani, tambourine or other
instruments
the 25-voice Trinity Choir who sing weekly at the 10:30 service
the handbell and chime choir, the Trinity Ringers, who play monthly at both services
the occasional music of Mustard Seed, our upbeat bluegrass ensemble
vocal and instrumental soloists and ensembles who provide special music through the
summer and on other occasions
the annual Christmas and Easter cantatas, sung with orchestral accompaniment
brass for Easter, bagpipes at All Saints…
… and whatever else helps us to give God joyful praise!
